Cotswold Visits

A 7 night visit to the Cotswold Hills staying in a 15th century Cotswold house, with daily breakfast, entrances, guidance and transportation throughout. This may also be taken with Antiques and Gardens. See list of Antique and Garden tours.

Friday

If you are flying into London, your guide will meet you at the airport and arrange for you to meet your small group.

Pick up from the airport or your central London hotel. We travel to the tranquillity of the Cotswold hills by private motor coach - An area, 600 square miles, of natural beauty. The limestone scenery provides drystone walls, stone cottages, patch work quilt fields, and rolling hillsides. This is the quintessential English countryside and the ancient wool producing area of Britain.

We stay in Winchcombe, an ancient Saxon town in the western Cotswold hills.

Enjoy an evening relaxing maybe in the local friendly pub.

 

Saturday

Tour of  the Cotswold villages. Broadway, Snowshill, and its Lavender fields, Chipping Camden, and on to Stow on the Wold, for lunch  known for its fine antiques centres. To  Chipping Norton, Lower and Upper Slaughter, Lower and Upper Swell and Bourton on Water, and more.

Sunday

A moring to relax in Winchcombe. You may wish to attend morning service at one of our local churches or you may prefer to stroll to Sudeley Castle the resting place of Henry VIII’s last wife Katherine, or a guided walk through the countryside to the ancient remains of a roman villa and discover its mosaic floor hidden deep within the woods.


After lunch we travel to the garden creation of Lawrence Johnson -Hidcote Manor.

 

Monday
To the Cotswold town of Burford visiting the Cotwold Weavers
 
A guided walk of Oxford and its colleges. With freedom to roam the colleges -
we drive to Woodstock for lunch.

We visit  Blenheim Palace, the lavish stately home of the Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

 

Tuesday

A day to Bath . We tour the southern Cotswold villages - through Bibury with its ancient mill and trout farm and visit Tetbury passing the home of Prince Charles at Highgrove. To the ancient city of Bath - visit the Roman Baths of the 3rd C. and to the elegance of Georgian England.

Wednesday

Visit Snowshill Manor and to Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon. We visit  Shakespeare’s birthplace and grave before touring Anne Hathaways Cottage.

Shakespearean Theatre option ( subject to ticket availability ).

 

Thursday
 A shopping visit to the Regency town of Cheltenham voted the finest shopping town in England and on to Gloucester cathedral used in the filming of Harry Potter.
Wonderful antique shops may be enjoyed.

Transport to London, your departing flight or extend your stay.

Week stay 7 nights - Friday to Friday - £840       + £95 single supplement

If taken as your own private group you may change your daily destinations.

Group bookings will be priced on application.
